Broadleaf Wood Flooring Guidance
The following are some important points to note with regards to your Broadleaf Floor, its installation and its aftercare. In addition whoever is installing your Broadleaf Floor should read carefully through Broadleaf’s Installation Guide.
- Natural variation is a key feature of a real wood floor and you will see differences from plank to plank and block to block. More rustic styles will feature more variation.
- The shading of your floor when delivered may vary from our display boards, which evolve in tone over time.
- Broadleaf Parquet Floors should be glue fixed. Broadleaf Plank Floors can be nail or glue fixed (see Broadleaf Product Selector for details) and Broadleaf Strata Plank Floors can also be floated.
- All Broadleaf Floors should be installed in line with Broadleaf’s Installation Guide to a suitable substrate that is clean, level and dry.
- All plaster / concrete must be fully dry before your floor is delivered and the heating must have been run for at least 2 weeks after this.
- Your floor must be acclimatised for 7-14 days before installation, unwrapped and lattice stacked so that the air can circulate, in a room with normal living conditions. (See Broadleaf Installation Guide for further details).
- To prevent unnecessary scratches and damage to your floor finish use felt pads or castors on items of furniture such as chairs that move across the floor without being lifted
- To minimise damage from dirt and grit and reduce maintenance use coir mats in entrance doorways – these can be attractively housed in matwells as the floor is fitted.
- Don’t let spills, wet towels or wet dogs sit on your floor for extended periods.
- Over time light will slowly mellow the tone of your floor so large pieces of furniture and rugs should be moved slightly from time to time to even out this process.
- Clean Broadleaf Floors with Broadleaf Wood Floor Cleaner and maintain them with Broadleaf Wood Floor Wax (see Broadleaf Aftercare Guide for more details). Do not use generic floor cleaning products which can damage the finish over time.
