Kahrs Natural Wood Flooring Guidance

The following are some important points in relation to the installation of your Kahrs wood flooring.

Understanding Natural Wood

  • Please be advised wood is a natural material and will vary from plank to plank.
  • Due to this natural variation our showroom displays and website images are intended as general guides only.
  • Please be advised it is normal for wood to change colour/shade due to exposure to light and poor maintenance.

Before Installation

  • The floor must be clean, level, flat and dry before installation.
  • A moisture barrier must be in place before laying the floor into screeds.

Installation

  • IMPORTANT: Do not open the packs of floorboards until installation commences. Kahrs floor are not to be open for acclimatisation days before fitting.
  • Open the packs in sequence with the installation. You can open and mix multiple packs to vary the shade across the floor but open no more than can be fitted that day.
  • Kahrs floors can be laid floating or glued direct to a suitable substrate (see installation instructions).
  • Wood loc system is easy and quick to install, no glue required, with the exception of tongue and groove flooring. Wood loc systems boards can be taken up and refitted.
  • All oiled floors need to be oiled once laid on the floor, further oiling may be required depending on level of traffic and maintenance or lack of. Oiling the floor will protect it and assist with daily maintenance.

Caring for your wood floor

  • We recommend that you put furniture feet on all furniture to protect the wood.
  • Mats should be placed inside and outside doors to reduce excess wet and grit from shoes.
  • We recommend no wet materials to be left on any wood floors.
  • We advise that you use Kahrs floor cleaner on a regular basis to maintain your Kahrs wood floor.
